U.S. Chamber President and Governor Mitch Daniels to speak at Chamber's Annual Meeting & Dinner

The Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana is pleased to announce that Tom Donohue, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will serve as the Keynote Speaker and Governor Mitch Daniels will serve as the Guest Speaker at The Chamber's Annual Meeting & Dinner that will be held on Tuesday, October 12 at The Centre in Downtown Evansville.  

Tom Donohue’s Biography

Since assuming his position in 1997, Donohue has built the Chamber into a lobbying and political powerhouse with expanded influence across the globe. Donohue has aggressively advanced a competitiveness agenda that includes:  

Doubling U.S. exports in five years;
Strengthening capital markets;
Forging a national energy strategy;
Reforming health care and education;
And protecting intellectual property rights.  

In addition, Donohue spearheaded the creation of the American Free Enterprise. Dream Big. campaign, a positive, long-term program to defend, protect, and advance a free enterprise system based on individual initiative, hard work, and personal responsibility-operating with free trade, free capital markets, and reasonable taxes and regulations.  

Under Donohue's leadership, the Chamber has also emerged as a major player in election politics, helping elect congressional pro-business candidates through financial support and voter activism generated through the Chamber's powerful grassroots program.    

Governor Mitch Daniels’ Biography

Mitchell E. Daniels Jr. was elected as the 49th Governor of the State of Indiana in 2004, in his first bid for any elected office.  

Governor Daniels came from a successful career in business and government, holding numerous top management positions in both the private and public sectors.  He also has served as Chief of Staff to Senator Richard Lugar, Senior Advisor to President Ronald Reagan and Director of the Office of Management and Budget under President George W. Bush.  

In 2008, Governor Daniels was named "Public Official of the Year" by the independent magazine Governing for his achievements as governor. He also received the Manhattan Institute's 2008 Innovator Award for his creative public policy initiatives.  

These innovations included the 2006 lease of the Indiana Toll Road, the largest privatization of public infrastructure in the United States to date, generating nearly $4 billion for reinvestment in the state's record breaking 10-year transportation and infrastructure program.  

Governor Daniels was re-elected in 2008 to a second and final term, receiving more votes than any candidate for any public office in the state's history.

Annual Meeting & Dinner Information

The Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana hosts its Annual Meeting & Dinner in order to communicate the issues and initiatives that The Chamber has undertaken or supported over the past year.  It is a way to show The Chamber's impact, while previewing the organization's program of work for the next year.  The Chamber also presents its Annual Awards at this gathering in order to recognize Chamber members for their valuable service and leadership.  

Tickets for The Chamber's Annual Meeting & Dinner are just $75 per member and $750 per table of 10. Tickets are $150 per non-member.
